  After marriage, Bertha and August lived in Arcadia, Nebraska. In 1934 they moved to Scottsbluff, Nebraska and lived in the Lake Alice Community for 20 years and briefly in Mitchell. In 1956 they moved to the Sunflower Community where they owned a farm. She was employed in Scottsbluff by Murphy's, J.C. Penny Co., and as a bookkeeper for the Great Western Sugar Co. They retired in 1977 and moved to Gering. In 1994 they moved into the Village in Scottsbluff. They were members of the First United Methodist Church in Scottsbluff. After her husband's death she moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico, where she attended Morning Star United Methodist Church and Good Samaritan Village Chapel.
