| Elias is listed at age 42, living in Cornwall and married to Salfia or Sallia. This census record also listed them having a 13 year old son named Gilbert and an 11 year old daughter named Agnes, an 8 year old son named Thomas F. and a 2 year old daughter named Jane Bertha. | ||

| On May 27, 1861, Elias Weik was mustered into service with the 7th Pennsylvania Reserves, 36th Pennsylvania Volunteers, Company C. On February 5, 1864, his brother Thomas Franklin Weik was also mustered into the same company and was reported missing in action on May 6, 1864 at Wilderness, Virginia. On February 10, 1864, a Henry Weik as also mustered into the same company, and was reported missing in action at Bethesda Church on May 30, 1864, however we have not yet been able to confirm if this Henry was Elias's brother of some other Henry Weik. On May 31, 1864, Elias was transferred to the 190th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Company E.. Elias was captured and became a POW from August 19, 1864, to March 12, 1865 and was discharged by General Order on June 6, 1865. Elias would eventually name one of his sons "Franklin Thomas" after his deceased younger brother. This was a normal custom of the time, in order to honor the deceased. Grand Army of the Republic. | 1870 Census Roll # 1334, pg 35 Value of Estate was $200. Wife's name was listed as Sallia, age 26 with an occupation as "Housekeeper" Elias was 35 years old. Born in Dauphin County, East Hanover Twp. and worked as a "Furnace Keeper" at the "Cornwall Iron Furnace" where they made cannon balls and other items since 1742. The furnace was located in the basement and had to be kept running 24/7 and there were only two individuals in available to keep it going day and night, every day of the week, so it was long hours for each man. As of 2020, that building was still standing and individuals could take a very educational guided tour of it. Others listed in the home were: Son: Wilson, age 3 Daughter: Agnes age 1 Male: Henry, age 28. Occupation is Collier, meaning he would dig or transport coal from the surrounding mountains, for the furnace. | ||
