  Menominee Herald Leader February 2, 1971 with Picture Emil C Ewald Dies Monday Evening Emil C Ewald, 62, of 1024 6th Street, District Court Magistrate,died unexpectedly Monday at 9:30 PM in St Joseph Lloyd Hospital, wherehe had been admitted shortly before. Ewald served Menominee in the law enforcement field for 35 years.He was elected Justice of Peace in 1936, a position which he helduntil two years ago when he was appointed District Magistrate. Mr Ewald was born October 28, 1908 in Longrie, Michigan. Hemarried Mildred Jones on August 7, 1930, in Menominee. In 1935 Mr Ewald entered the Jones Agency, an insurance business,which he sold two years ago to William Caley. He was an active member of the Bethel Lutheran Church where hewas a Sunday School teacher for seven years. He served as a member ofthe Church Finance Committee for the new Educational addition of thechurch and was active in purchase of the adjacent property for thechurch parking lot. He was also active in the Men's Club of thechurch. Mr Ewald was a member of the Menominee Odd Fellows Lodge where hewas Post Noble Grand and served as treasurer for 15 years. He servedas secretary and treasurer of the Odd Fellows Association since Marchof 1945. Mr Ewald was also a member and Past Worshipful Master of theMenominee Blue Lodge F&AM 269, a member of the Royal Arch Masons No.107. He also served as Past Commander for two years and was a memberof the Knights Templar Commandery and a member of the MasonicAssociation, Twin City Shrine Club and Ahmed Temple. Survivors include his widow; three daughters, Mrs Walter Homa ofMarinette, Mrs Joseph Vorachek of Kalamazoo, Mrs Douglas Lueskow of KI Sawyer Air Force Base, Marquette; 10 grandchildren; one sister, MrsHenning Wagberg of Channing, Mich; two brothers, Carl of Marinette andFred of Menominee. Friends may call at the Kell Funeral Home from 4 to 9 PMWednesday where Masonic visitation will be held at 7:30 PM. The bodywill be taken to the church Thursday at 11 am to lie in state untiltime of service. Services will be held Thursday at 2 PM in Bethel Lutheran Church.Rev William R Sarvela will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. A Memorial Fund has been established.
